Ambitious plans for Zurella

New Zealand Oaks runner up Zurella is being set an ambitious target this coming spring.

The Zabeel filly is currently spelling but trainer Shaune Ritchie is making plans that will see the talented filly do all her racing in Australia.

“From all accounts she’s doing well.” Ritchie said.

“She doesn’t like a wet track and in Australia there will be less chance of that.”

“She’s likely to campaign in Melbourne and we’ll try and sneak a spot in the Caulfield Cup.”

While the Cambridge filly winner might not be seen racing in New Zealand there will be a chance to catch a glimpse of her before she departs.

“At this stage she is likely to spend a couple weeks at Ruakaka where the track isn’t as badly affected by wet weather.” Ritchie continued

“She’ll probably have a gallop between races and that might be her only public appearance here (New Zealand).”

Zurella has won four of her eight starts with wins coming in the Group II Sir Tristram Fillies Classic (2000m) and the Group III Eulogy Stakes (1600m, she also raced in both the New Zeland Derby (5th on a rain affected track) and Oaks (2nd).
